Thankfully, we’re not alone in that—we’ve compiled a brief list of resources produced by others in the cybersecurity industry that not only are safe voices but well worth our attention.
The National Cybersecurity Alliance’s ‘Stay Safe Online’
This resource provides clear and manageable tips, ranging from ‘How to Tell If Your Computer Has a Virus and What to Do About It’ to a brief article on managing privacy settings. The Alliance is a nonprofit that works to bring cyber awareness and safety to everyone.
The Cyber Readiness Institute
The Cyber Readiness Institute is a great place to turn to if you need a free cyber readiness training tool for your small or medium-sized business! CRI was formed from the 2016 bipartisan Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity and was created to provide free resources for small and medium-sized business cybersecurity.
The Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA)
CISA has an entire section on its portal dedicated to cybersecurity tips. From basic cybersecurity definitions to advanced defense concepts? They’ve got you covered. Want to hear what the latest cybersecurity threats are? They have that too.
The Global Cyber Alliance
Perfect for small to medium-sized businesses (but helpful for anyone), the Global Cyber Alliance has created a cybersecurity toolkit that is free and easily accessible. These tools do anything from automatically updating your devices to providing access to additional resources and training materials.
Frozen Pii
Because identity fraud is so prevalent (and dangerous), Frozen Pii was created to keep your credit reports, federal government identity, and personal data files safe. They even worked together with Virtual StrongBox (VSB) to give you a free and easy way to protect sensitive data during internet transfers, or to keep it safely away from malware and ransomware attacks.
SecurityStudio
Individuals who take their personal and family cybersecurity seriously at home take it seriously at the business or organization where they work. The information security experts at SecurityStudio created S2Me as a free tool to teach good cybersecurity habits and help you monitor your online health.
N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT)
In addition to providing services to meet the business needs of government agencies and institutions across North Carolina, the CybersecureNC initiative delivers education and resources for businesses, schools, and residents.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
NIST develops cybersecurity standards, guidelines, best practices, and other resources to meet the needs of U.S. industry, federal agencies, and the broader public. The site has a Small Business Cybersecurity Corner among many other excellent resources.
While this list is by no means exhaustive, it is an excellent place to start as we work to build a more secure future together.
